1 Who can become a foster parent?

Foster parents can be individuals or couples, homeowners or renters, with or without children of their own. You must meet the necessary requirements to ensure a safe and stable environment for a child.

2 What are the requirements to foster?

To become a foster parent with Delta Family Services, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old
  • Have verifiable income to meet your household needs
  • Pass state and tederal background checks
  • Complete required training and a home study


3 What can disqualify me from fostering?

  • You may be disqualified from fostering if you:
  • Are under the age of 21
  • Live in Section 8 housing (due to foster care
    licensing requirements)
  • Do not have verifiable income to support your
    household
  • Have a criminal history that includes violent
    offenses, child abuse, or other disqualifying
    charges
  • Fail to meet home safety and licensing standards


4 Can I choose the age or gender of the child I foster?
