Residential Services

Delta’s Residential Services division offers a three-pronged, person-centered approach to caring for adults with developmental disabilities and their families. No matter what the need or challenge, the Residential Services staff commits themselves to enhancing each individual’s independence.

  • Community Living Arrangements. Individuals live alone or in group settings, with access to the exact amount of staff support they require.
  • In-home Care. Delta staff provides on-site support and companionship at an individual’s family home.
  • Respite Home. Family members of individuals with developmental disabilities can take a break from daily care, knowing their loved one is safe and well-cared for at one of Delta’s two Bed and Breakfasts.

Community Living Arrangements

For adults with developmental disabilities, there is no place like a Delta home. Delta offers community living arrangements in which individuals can contribute to and benefit from their communities. When a person is referred by the Bucks County Office of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, he or she will be welcomed into the home that best accommodates existing housemates and new members of the Delta family.

The 118-member Residential Services staff oversees nearly 70 individuals who live in 23 group homes and apartments situated throughout lower Bucks County, Pa. Six project managers oversee up to five homes each, including the residential manager and support staff who guide each home.

Living and Working Together

Housemates within each of Delta’s group homes function together as a family. Under the on-site supervision of Delta staff members, each housemate participates fully in the daily routines of life, sharing meals, household responsibilities, and social opportunities.

For some individuals, work opportunities enhance personal growth and build pride and skills. The Delta staff members who oversee residences can pair individuals who’d like to work with an employer who can help them succeed. Delta’s staff also provides transportation to keep employed housemates on schedule. From community restaurants and pizza shops, to Associated Production Services and BARC, Delta residents find meaningful employment in nurturing environments.

Staff Support for Independence

Interaction builds companionship between staff and residents. Staff members come to understand each person’s strengths and hobbies, tailoring recreation options and community outings to suit each person’s interests and needs. Most importantly, each individual chooses the life they want to live, and Delta staff members ensure that their choices are validated and protected.

Depending on the level of independence within a home, some individuals receive 24-hour overnight care, while others may see their support staff 14 hours per week. Should a housemate require additional or unique care due to a medical condition, Delta staff members will be trained to provide the right support.

In-home Care

When a family needs assistance in caring for a family member with disabilities, Delta can help. If you are referred to Delta through the Bucks County Office of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, our direct services staff will come to your home to administer the support your family member needs. Our staff members are trained to provide a wide range of services. If your circumstances require special consideration, we will ensure that our staff receives the additional training necessary.

Respite Care at the Delta Bed and Breakfast

We know that families who care for a loved one with developmental disabilities need time to refresh themselves. Family caregivers in need of personal time, and who are referred by the county Office of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, may schedule a stay for their family members at Delta’s Respite Home — commonly known as the Delta Bed and Breakfast!

Building on the success of Delta’s Respite Home in Bucks County, which accommodates up to four people, Residential Services opened a Respite Home in March of 2004 in Norristown, Montgomery County, where respite options are sparse. The new home can host three individuals, and staff members will use the Bucks County Respite Homes as models for their new service area.

While you’re enjoying a breather, Delta's dedicated staff members will care for your family member. You’ll rest well knowing your family member will receive professional care in your absence.

Whether you need just a half-day to recoup or a few days to reenergize (not to exceed 28 days per year), a Respite Home visit for your loved one may be the best remedy. For more information, please call Rob Clark, Deena Morrone, or Nannette Wolf at 215-953-9255.

We would be happy to answer any questions you have about the services we can provide for your loved one. To find out if he or she is eligible to participate in our programs, please contact your county case manager.
